Project 139

Cornerstone Brighouse

Cornerstone Church, Brighouse outgrew it’s building over 20 years ago and has rented a number of community spaces since. The original building, with its highly accessible location and close proximity to park land and leisure facilities, was retained, and the ground floor repurposed as a church cafe in 2012 (Cafe 139). In the last 12 months the house adjoining this building was offered to the church at a discounted price and, with the generous help of a neighbouring church, the congregation of Cornerstone Church stepped out in faith and purchased the house. The acquisition gives the potential to create a space for the church to meet again in the neighbourhood where it was founded in 1977. It also provides us with a great opportunity to restart a number of ministries and explore a number of new ones. God has already graciously opened so many doors that we are fully persuaded it is right to continue to seek his grace and guidance in the redevelopment of the two buildings, to transform and extend the facilities and re-establish a presence in the community that we have so many links to.
