PRAYER FOCUS FOR SEPTEMBER

OVERSEAS MISSION

Open Doors:

Please pray for the ‘Open Doors’ team who are developing a website for Christian Youth in China so that they can download study and reference materials and know more about their faith.

Sunday school teachers in Indonesia:

We are asked to pray for the three Sunday school teachers who have been released from prison in Indonesia. They give thanks for the cards and prayers from around the world and ask us to pray for their church congregation who need a place to conduct their services.

Hope Now:

Give thanks to God for the work of Hope Now in Ukraine.

Vic Jackopson will have visited us at the end of August and shared something of their work; running a Bible school, educating orphans and improving their living conditions, rescuing homeless children, prison welfare, church planting and sponsorship of young people. Please give thanks and pray that our Father will continue to bless Vic, the team and the work they are doing.

Bible Society:

Give thanks and praise God for the work of the Bible Society, which has a ministry, not only abroad, but also here in England. Although the Bible is readily available in our own land most people have no understanding of its relevance to their lives. The Bible Advocacy Team are working on this continually. Please pray that the resulting campaigns/ projects will bear fruit and that many more people will see the relevance of God’s Word and apply it to their own lives.

Persecuted Christians:

It can seem difficult to pray for Christians far away in countries we have never visited and suffering in ways we have never experienced. However, the Bible can help to guide us in our prayers. Paul prayed for the Colossian Christians that they would ‘live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience…’ (Colossians 1:10-11). Please do continue to pray for our brothers and sisters who suffer for their faith.

Our Lord Jesus also commanded, ‘Pray for those who persecute you’ (Matthew 5: 44) and pray for those who are persecuting our fellow-believers.

OUR CHURCH and COMMUNITY

Please pray for:

...our service on 15th September when the induction of Revd Eddie Boon will take place, together with the re-dedication of our ‘new’ Church building.

...Eddie and his family as they settle into this area, especially the children as they start at new schools.
...those returning from, or going on, holiday that they will be kept safe in their travelling.

...teachers and children returning to school for the new term, that they will settle well into the new school year
...that many people will ‘drop in’ to our new building and will find a welcome and God’s peace.
...all those who have taken on new tasks in our new building, that they will soon get to grips with the work, and find it rewarding.
...the Alpha supper on 8th September and the course which starts on 13th. Pray that God will send the right number of people to join the course.

...for the young people in our Church that God will protect them from danger and harm as they come up against many temptations and pressure from their piers.

...for the Praizin’ Hands Puppets as they go into schools with presentations on everyday issues encountered by the young people.

…for our fund-raising events, especially the Showstoppers concert on 22nd September. Pray that many people will come and that the event will be a great success. Pray for those who will be giving the concert that they will have safe travelling from Guildford and will not get too exhausted.

...for all our organisations as they start back again after the summer break. Pray too that more people will become involved in our various organisations, and that they will grow spiritually and numerically.
...that God will provide for our needs in all we do in this Church. ...for the manpower, resources and money that we require to continue to do His work here in Hythe.
